I’m working my way through my pre- reading list! Compulsory reads are:
– The Bhagavad Gita
– The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
– Key Muscles of Yoga by Ray Long
Recommended pre reading:
– Instructing Hatha yoga by Kathy Lee Kappmeier
– Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bhanda by Sarah Satyananda Swam
– Yoga Anatomy byLeslie Kaminoff
So far I’ve finished the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and The Bhagavad Gita, both of which I really enjoyed (particularly the Gita).
I thought the Gita was difficult to get into but once I had started to understand the way it’s narrated and the layout of the book I really got into it, reading a chapter a day. I’m going to re-visit this book before I start my training as I think the more you read it the more you’ll get from it. I may also read the Upanishads, though this probably won’t be before I start training.
I just started on Key muscles of Yoga by Ray Long and oh my god! I don’t understand it at all! So many new words and concepts, again I’m going to read through once, before reading again and taking notes!
I have a reading list of my own which is like to get through before I begin my training, these include:
– the Power of Now by Elkhart Tolle
– The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
